The Receptionist's Song

I reckoned, "No new posts until it stops snowing..."
But when will that be? The wind won't stop blowing
This meter of snow from the last seven days,
The mountain awash with a blanket of haze.
When have I ever asked it to stop?
To give it a rest, to leave the last drop?

It feels so wrong praying for less,
But the slopes are filled and the road's a mess!
God open the pass and start the lifts,
I've been sitting for days and my legs are stiff.
So here's to the morning, sunny and clear!
I want deep turns, face shots, and as always, a beer.

  1. Thank you for your blog, we are planning our 2012 trip to Portillo and have really enjoyed following your summer adventure. Has the lake frozen yet?

Hope you can take some turns today. If you have a chance, could you describe the landing zone for the slingshot lift? It looks like there isn't a flat space at the end of the lift!
    Thank you again for sharing.

  2. Hi Suellen!

The lake is close to frozen. I took some pictures of the new ice today, actually. As for the va et vients, there are no "landing zones"... When lift stops skiers have to awkwardly slide away. It's never pretty, but you'll get used to it.

Thanks for reading and see you next year!

  3. Hi Blood of Christ Christian Academy,

You really think I'm the next Dylan?! Oh boy! I knew my poem was pretty great, but you must have LOVED it. I`ve already dedicated my next poem to you, friend. The working title is: Boats and Whales.

    Thanks for reading!
